True! I suggest you do an exeriment: shoot pictures with both lens, ask your client to pick. Then you will know the result.

I don't know how can you shoot with the 28-200/3.5-5.6 lens without using the flash during the ceremony in the dark church, and the normal case for church is ISO 1600 f/2.8 1/30sec.... ?

Also if you are professional please use pro equipment to do your job.

The 28-300/3.5-5.6 lens is a very good choice for a second shooter for day light wedding or so...

These days, community photographers are equiped with the top line gears, those so called pros lost their customer base. Don't you see those poor guys at wedding, at school, at corperate event..... hold the craked equipments, sometime tighten with duct tape and robber bands. Hehe, they care about money, not the customer. But not 业余photographers, because they are 业余, including me myself. My boss, a 28 year 100% wedding pro, don't even have any 2.8 lens. But he has 2 30+ foot boats.


I see your point.

Someone do photography for the money, but others do it with their heart, i never see top wedding photographers using consumer grade equipment.

If just for the money, we should do something else :D

Still Wedding deserves the BEST....that's what i believe...



always shoot wedding with passion, be the brother and sister of the bride, then you will find the romantic moment. Pros count the number shot, not 业余摄影师; pro calculate the depreciation of the equipments, not 业余摄影师; pros count the time spent at weeding, not 业余摄影师. So I think these day, smart customers pick a good 业余摄影师, not a pro.

But most called pro do an average job compared with semi-pro photographer, why ? You can't evaluate one's photography skill and talent by how long he/she have been in the field... most older wedding photographers can't follow up with the technology and the trend, they only charge $1500 per wedding or so, while other charge average $3500 and up....

That's the reality ! face it.......

Equipment is not the most important part for photographym, the photographer is the key, but if you are a good photographer and have the enough income from your photographey business, you should get the best you deserve......

就好象武侠小说里的绝世高手, 摘叶伤人, 可要是其他等次的人如果都学只用树叶的话, 估计会死的很快, 根本没有下一次的机会. 因为对于新手来说, 一次失败的机会就有可能有灭顶之灾, 但大师名声在外的话, 就算偶然一次拍的很烂, 我想顾客也不会很criticize. :lol: :lol: :lol:

FOr my boss, there several reasons for him not to carry the top line lenses:
1) too heavy to carry with and too hassle to change during the shooting
2) potentiallt lost equipments (theft sometime)
3) Not many customers are fine art style, acctually the majority of them are at regular price and only expect the journalist style pictures. So that not demanding best lens for the job
4) business man's schema: saving money for the off best work.
5) already stable customer base

There are many smart customers out there, i have shot a weeding of one well-know local wedding photographer's daughter's wedding, how can i show up with a $200 zoom lens as main lens, no way !

Also i think we have the different philosphies on this topic..
I suggest your boss to buy some point and shoot camera, that will say some money and can get the job done too...

很有道理，所以或许正是因为这样的压力，往往semi-pro的人拍的更用心，拍前准备更充分。反而pro的大师们可能不在乎了。就象学校里的教授一旦拿到tenure,教课就越教越烂。

I don't think that is a fact. He uses 2 5D bodies, best body in the world.
