下面是我们公司JPL Hiking Club参加另外一个俱乐部的活动，　我觉得挺好的，也贴在这里，看我们沙龙有多少人感兴趣，这个地方一定要潮水低的时候才能看到海星等小动物，我们徒步俱乐部一定是计划好的，查了潮水的涨跌，才计划这天的，也省得我们动心思了。　

这个地方就在魏勃博士的家附近。

Dear Friends,

Please come celebrate 25 years of tide pool exploration with the Northrop Grumman Wilderness Club (formerly and affectionately called the TRW Wilderness Club).

Where: Abalone Cove Shoreline Park
When: Sunday, January 25th, 1:45 - 4:00 pm
Wear: Hiking boots or sport shoes with non-slip treads
Cost: $6.00 parking fee

We will meet in the parking lot of Abalone Cove Shoreline Park at 1:45 PM. After a brief introduction, we will hike down to the beach along the rocky inter-tidal zone where we will see starfish, anemones, sea urchins and many other interesting creatures. The tide will be a low -0.8 feet, so we may even see an octopus or sea cucumber. The hike will be about 2 miles and should take about 2 hours. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to explore and learn about nature. Rain or shine, the trip goes. We'll go out for pizza afterwards.

Directions to Abalone Cove:
Drive S on Hawthorne Blvd. until it ends at Palos Verdes Drive S.;
Turn left on Palos Verdes Drive S;
Drive about 2 miles to Abalone Cove Shoreline Park.

Some info:
Abalone Cove Shoreline Park features two beaches (Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove), tidepools, bluff top viewing areas and trails crisscrossing the area. The park contains a State Ecological Preserve and taking of protected animals and marine life is prohibited. There is direct access to a parking lot off Palos Verdes Drive South. Access to Abalone Cove Beach is by a long trail from the parking lot. To access Sacred Cove, users must walk along Palos Verdes Drive South to one of two trails between Portuguese and Inspiration Points. Lifeguards are on duty at Abalone Cove Beach during summer hours and weekends only. The views of the ocean and Catalina Island are spectacular. Barbecues, fires, and dogs are prohibited at this site.

很美的海滩,海星星,卵圆石和礁石.加上海浪.一定可以出好片.
