I have a big manfratto one that is bigger than most suitcases, so it's only for car tours.

So I'm looking for a 2nd one for air travel.

I don't own a bank yet, so I'm thinking the (priority #2) cheapest one that will (priority #1) do-the-job, "do-the-job" is most important. Since a tripod lasts forever, I understand that an expansive one might be cheaper in long run (if it out lives 2-3 cheap ones).

Please suggest one, or simply tell me what you're using.

I bought a manfrotto 055xprob recently. It's pretty good to me in all aspects like weight, design, and build. never worry on their quality products. I also bought their new joystick 322RC2. I love it.

190xprob can be your option as well. It is a smaller version of 055. Lighter and shorter. Just for your information.

I am using Gitzo 1228 MK2, which is designed to be carried on to the plane when folded. But it is discontinued and can be hardly found. You can try GT1540, which is a 4 section G-lock tripod too.

I am using Gitzo 1228 MK2 too, it's discontinued but you can find it on ebay.
